Former Utah congressman to succeed Jo Ann Emerson, who stepped down after suffering brain hemorrhage last year Matheson One of the nation's largest energy industry associations has tapped former Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah) as its next CEO. The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association announced Monday that Matheson will replace CEO Jo Ann Emerson, the former member of Congress from Missouri who had to step down after a brain hemorrhage last year. NRECA is a $203 million-revenue association in Arlington, Va., that employed 861 staff as of 2014, according to tax filings.
